Exemption from Canadian biometrics

Exemption from doing biometrics

One of the conditions for applying for a temporary residence visa includes a visitor visa, a student visa, and a work visa.

However, on Friday, July 17, 2020, the Immigration Department announced that in order to facilitate matters in the current situation, people who are in Canada are exempted from doing biometrics, and if they pay the fee ($85), this fee will be refunded to them.

People who are outside of Canada are still required to take biometrics when the conditions are met.

Biometrics is considered mandatory for obtaining or renewing study and work permits.
